Box plots are useful for comparing multiple sets of data because they can show the minium and maximum values, as well as the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentiles of the data. The box plot above shows the number of daily hospital births in Canada by the day of the week. The line closest to the bottom of each day of the week data is the minimum and the line at the top is the maximum. The horizontal lines inbetween show the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentiles from bottom to top respectively.
